Journalist Carl Honore believes the Western world's emphasis on speed
erodes health, productivity and quality of life. But there's a backlash
brewing, as everyday people start putting the brakes on their
all-too-modern lives.

Isabelle died as a result
of an injury sustained by her adult belt in a low impact car accident. This
injury was Isabelle's only injury and had she not sustained this injury she
would be here today. Her gift to you (amongst others) is the knowledge that
children under five or 18kg should always remain in a five point harness. We
wrongly assumed Isabelle had to move to a booster when she out grew her baby
seat. We were unaware that Isabelle could have used a specific booster designed
for older children, however these seats are only sold in specialty baby shops
and are not well advertised. We beleive that parents are generally not well
educated on the use of a harness and booster. We beleive that much more needs
to be done to stop this happening to our children. Visit

Ice-skating in the summer? "What a COOL project!" reported the
Hannan family after making these action figures that have their feet
embedded in ice. They found lots of different ways to play with them.
Try this easy activity with your family--you'll need to schedule in a
short waiting time while the water in a cup (the base) turns to ice in
your freezing compartment. The LaClairs made the craft in the evening
so that the ice was frozen solid when they got up the next morning. The
Hannans did their figures in the morning and scheduled a hockey game
for 2 p.m.
You and your spouse are both unique individuals -- so that
means your approach to disciplining your kids probably won't mesh each
and every time. Here's how to maintain a united front even when you
don't see eye to eye.
Are mornings completely chaotic at your house? If your family
is like most, this is the most stressful period of the day. Here's how
to streamline your morning routine so you can put the "good" back into
your "good mornings."
School may be back in session, but that doesn't mean you have
to ban vacations until next summer rolls around. Even a 24-hour getaway
can still create great family memories to last a lifetime.
Completely exasperated by your kids' less-than-stellar
behavior? Try these three parenting techniques and your kids will be
cooperative 90 percent of the time. We like those odds!
